NEW YORK (September 5, 2025) —  Patrick Novecosky discussed Pope Leo XIV’s upcoming canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati this morning with Newsmax hosts Rita Cosby on Saturday Report. Also on the panel was OSV News Editor Gretchen Crowe

Cosby asked Novecosky about how Carlo Acutis has inspired the world. Novecosky called Acutis “a quintessential Millennial. He’s got Nike shoes, he’s got Levi’s jeans, and he’s got his Adidas windbreaker. That’s how he wanted to be buried. He wanted to be remembered as a boy who loved the Lord Jesus and His Church — and wanted nothing more than to go to heaven himself and … to tell people about the Lord.”

Novecosky noted that the most touching moment during the canonization will likely be when Acutis’ parents — Andrea and Anthonia Acutis — present his relics. “That moment will be really special when Carlo’s parents are there to watch their only son [at the time of Carlo’s death] being raised to the altars of the Church.
