NEW YORK (March 23, 2025) —  Patrick Novecosky discussed Pope Francis’ health and discharge from Rome’s Gemelli Hospital with host Jon Glasgow on Newsmax’s Sunday Report. They were joined by Father Patrick Flanagan, Chair of Religious Studies at St. John’s University in New York City.

Glasgow asked Novecosky what he made of the video of the pope being release from the hospital today. “I’ve never seen him this frail,” Novecosky said. “According to some sources he will have two months’ recovery at the Vatican … before he’s able to resume a normal work schedule.”

Glasgow also asked whether the pope should resign. “Earlier in his pontificate, he said that if he was debilitated and he couldn’t work, that he had a letter, he had a plan for a resignation,” Novecosky said. “Even despite his frailty, he wants to continue on and that is really impressive.”
