WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 10, 2026) — Author Patrick Novecosky celebrated the launch of his new book, Icons of Mercy: The Faith, Friendship, and Legacy of John Paul II and Mother Teresa, this afternoon at the Saint John Paul II National Shrine.
During his presentation, Novecosky explored the extraordinary lives and enduring legacies of two of the most beloved saints of modern times. Drawing on his personal encounters with Pope John Paul II and his experiences with the Missionaries of Charity, he reflected on how these two spiritual giants transformed the world through their unwavering faith, profound love for humanity, and commitment to God’s mercy.
The livestreamed presentation was followed by a lively question-and-answer session, giving attendees a chance to engage with Novecosky about the saints, their remarkable friendship, and the inspiration behind his book. The afternoon concluded with a book signing and an opportunity for guests to meet the author.
Published by Catholic Answers Press, Icons of Mercy features a foreword by Cardinal Timothy Dolan and offers a compelling look at how John Paul II and Mother Teresa helped bend history in the direction of Jesus Christ and the Church He founded.
