HELENA, Montana (OCTOBER 26, 2026) — Patrick Novecosky joined Doug Tooke this afternoon on The Doug Tooke Show on SiriusXM’s The Catholic Channel to discuss his new book, Icons of Mercy: The Faith, Friendship, and Legacy of John Paul II and Mother Teresa.
The conversation explored the remarkable spiritual connections among St. John Paul II, St. Teresa of Calcutta, and St. Faustina Kowalska—three influential figures whose lives helped bring the message of Divine Mercy to the modern world.
Novecosky explained how John Paul II and Mother Teresa shared a profound commitment to human dignity, the sanctity of life, and God’s infinite mercy. The discussion also explored St. Faustina’s influence on John Paul II and his efforts to spread the message of Divine Mercy throughout the Church.
Tooke and Novecosky also revisited some of the author’s extraordinary personal encounters, including his first meeting with John Paul II in 1997. That encounter was the first of five times Novecosky would meet the Polish pontiff.
The conversation also touched on Novecosky’s interview with Sister Nirmala Joshi, MC, who succeeded Mother Teresa as superior general of the Missionaries of Charity. Novecosky met Sister Nirmala just three weeks after Mother Teresa’s death in September 1997, gaining a unique perspective on the saint’s remarkable life and enduring legacy.
